“And who the hell are you? You’re not on the roster.”

“Well, obviously, the roster is wrong, or else I wouldn’t be here.”

The turian scowled—or appeared to scowl as well as the usual stoic race could. He stared with his sharp blue eyes, stark in contrast from his dark brown skin and white clan markings. He finally looked down back at his active omni-tool, proceeding to press a few buttons, but did not say anything.

Kirrahe patiently stood, arms crossed, a pose expressing relaxed confidence in the situation, and the subtle hint of military alertness that he was never good at hiding.

This ordeal had ended up much more challenging than the salarian thought possible. Flying to Noveria wasn’t incredibly challenging, especially for any salarian member of the STG. However, he was given strict orders to do this undercover. This mission was also, honestly, more of a personal venture, and given the concerns regarding Cerberus spies and other qualms, the Captain had resorted to creating a fake identity. Things had gone smoothly.

The only problem was this snooping security crewman.

“They usually don’t assign salarians to guard against pirate raids…”

“They did this time.”

The turian was obviously losing his patience. He stopped midway in doing some security checking on the omni-tool, just to glare at the green-skinned salarian. This turian was obviously smarter than the usual crewmen of a supply ship.

Regardless, Kirrahe was a renowned tactician, and had plans within plans when undercover, and this time was no different.

Finally, the turian let a sigh escape him, and finally opted to turn off his device. He pointed a hand to the ship.

“Welcome aboard.”

Kirrahe briskly nodded his head, and began taking long quick strides toward the ship’s entrance. The turian grudgingly followed behind. Kirrahe easily managed to multi-task, turning on his omni-blade and decided that it was time to stop procrastinating and take on a particular important lead regarding the investigation—Mordin Solus.

As drones began to scan over for decontamination, the turian looked over the lithe salarian, frowning at an obvious lack of outward threat.

“I feel sorry for any pirates wanting to take over this ship…”

Kirahe paused from his rapid typing, and turned to face the turian crewman. It was hard to read the operative’s face, but it was clear he did not appreciate the sarcasm.

“Oh, yes, believe me, they should.”

“Noveria?”

Captain Kirrahe, member of the STG and veteran officer donned in a dark, sleek armor, stood before a slightly holographic image set up from his omni-tool. He simply nodded. The one who had asked the question was a tall, slender female Salarian, a Dalatrass of the Salarian Union.

“Yes, through my extensive research, I found out where she is going to be. I plan to meet her there. A impromptu plan, even for me, but it suits the situation best.”

“I often questioned why they would put you on this mission, Captain—”

“My place will always be to the Salarain Union and Dalatrasses, such as yourself.” Kirrahee began to do short paces around the dark room. “It could be politics playing into this, but maybe simply my personal dealings with the Commander will be more beneficial, than harming.”

The Dalatrass raised her eyebrow, dark large round eyes studying the Captain carefully.

“I trust the human with my life,” Kirrahe faced the holographic avatar. “Whatever Jane Shepard is doing, she is doing it for the galaxy. There is no harm in her actions. In fact, maybe the Salarian Union will hear to reason, to whatever she may have…discovered.”

There was a long silence. Just the faint glow from the image was reflecting around the room, leaving a uncomfortable ghastly aura. The sentiment seemed to be coldly set at Kirrahe’s last statement.

“I see,” the Salarian female finally spoke. “It was not a matter of your loyalty, Kirrahe, but these are interesting times. I hope you are right, about her. When you make it to Noveria, please update me on the investigation.”

With that, the Dalatrass appeared to be pressing some buttons on her side. Kirrahe gave a short respectful bow. Darkness was his reply. He stood still, unusually still for himself. He finally turned, and began to leave the room—next stop, Noveria.
